SPAM-alama-dingdong

Been awhile since we've done a SPAM recipe thread. Now that it's available in low sodium and "lite" versions maybe it's time to revive this treat.

I like to take a quarter inch slice and toast it up in the pan with a little bacon grease and eat it between two pieces of toast with lettuce, tomato and cheese anytime of the day or night.

How do you do SPAM?

I guess eating chocolate covered insects won’t appeal to some people either.:C

I’ve eaten SPAM all my life and I have one of the healthiest cholesterol levels from my annual exam. It’s like the doctors have been saying that it’s much more about genetics then diet.

SPAM and pineapple cubed into macaroni salad’s one of our family favorites too.
  • My uncle never again ate a hot dog after making them at meat plant.

  • Two points:

One can (12 oz.) of "reduced sodium" Spam contains 3480 mg of sodium. They say a serving is 580 mg, but that's a 2 oz. serving -- that amount of anything would just pi$$ off a grown man!

Secondly, way back when, many years ago, we toured the Hormel plant (I think it was in Minnesota). One of the things they actually showed us was the making of Spam. Why, I'll never know. What I can tell you is this -- from that day to this, once I saw what actually went into Spam, I have NEVER eaten it again, nor will I EVER, EVER, EVER eat it again.

  • Fried Spam, fried eggs (over easy), hash browns or grits, & toast.

Grilled Spam & cheese with some sliced onion if you please.

Stir fry Spam and vegetables over rice.

    Such a versatile food........
  • You've got my mouth watering just reading about it.

(I'm not above Spam. I like Spam salad, made just like ham salad.)

Note: When I saw "SPAM" in all capital letters, my first thought was the unwanted phone-call kind.
  • Never. If I want to have my remains stay forever, I'll go in the deep freeze rather that eat that processed garbage.
