- LynnandCarolExplorerJust got back from the Winn Dixie and here is what we ended up with. Bought country style pork ribs, gonna use a bourbon rub I picked up in St Louis Mo last summer. One Idaho baker for Lynn, 1 baked sweet for me. Stove top stuffing and fresh green beans. Bought a can of jellied cranberry sauce (other thread) and I have decided to make pecan tassies in mini muffin tins. Sound like a perfect feast for 2. Oh and bought a pound of shrimp to steam for the football game snack. :)
- Super_DaveExplorerBudster, that would be the less common version of turkey giblets!
- kelly94942ExplorerMy parents are RVing just the two of them this year and my mom is preparing TURKEY chili. Something easy and different, still incorporating turkey!

- RoadLifeExplorerWell, DH has voted for ham. I have voted for duck or Cornish game hen. I might make both. Ham sandwiches are always lovely. Probably keeping it simple with ham, baked sweet potatoes, English peas, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. And of course one of my blackberry cobblers (fresh blackberries are in the freezer). And duck or game hen on the side. ;-) Maybe a few devilled eggs...
Thanks friends for all the suggestions! - Opie431ExplorerA chain of supermarkets near us prepared Thanksgiving dinners. We oredered ahead and picked it up.
About a dozen families in the state park that Thanksgiving and all but one picked theirs up from the same place.
The dressing, gravy mashed potatoes and beans all came in microwable bags so they could be reheated at the last minute. My husband ate all four pieces of the pie over the weekend and I made a gluten free dessert for myself. - s1214ExplorerI know you said you were looking for things other than turkey.....
What I do is get a couple of turkey thighs. I've 'roasted' them in a slow cooker with nothing but some melted butter on top and spices. I'm always amazed how juicy the meat is and yet crispy brown the skin turns out.
The other thing I do is brown in a cast iron skillet then add vegetable broth (no salt if I can get it) cover and let roast in the oven for an hour. To this I add yellow rice and mushrooms and put back in the oven until all the liquid is absorbed. Some vegies on the side and you have a complete meal. - Super_DaveExplorer
