Superbowl Ideas

Let the games begin: Not my two favourite Teams playing this year but half the fun are the commercials and the food.. so what's everyone making this year? Here's one of my favourites:

CHEESE BALL
Printed from COOKS.COM
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
6 oz. sharp cheddar cheese
1 tbsp. finely chopped bell pepper
Dash of cayenne pepper
Dash of salt
1 tbsp. finely chopped onion
1 tbsp. finely chopped pimento
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
(Approximately 1 c. chopped pecans to roll ball in)
Cream cheeses together and add other ingredients. Roll in chopped
pecans. Refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving

  • I was a avid football person until the knees come down. I have not and will not ever watch another professional game, and if you believe in your military you should do the same. I watch collage ball where they have something to prove, not those over paid XXXXholes. Take your spouse out to dinner rather than the Suckerbowl.
  • Both recipes sound great! I have a similar cheeseball recipe that uses a small can of crushed, drained pineapple. It's delicious!

We will probably stick with chicken wings for the game, but may give the wontons a go.

    Thanks!
  • Here's another quick appetizer:
    Sausage Won Tons
    Ingredients
    1/2 pound hot Italian Sausage
    1/2 cup finely shredded carrot
1/4 cup finely chopped water chestnuts
    2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger or 2 teaspoons minced fresh gingerroot
    1/3 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon sherry or additional chicken broth
    1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
    40 wonton wrappers

    Directions
    1. In a nonstick skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in carrot and water chestnuts. In a bowl, combine cornstarch and ginger. Stir in the broth, sherry or additional broth and soy sauce until smooth. Stir into sausage mixture. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until thickened.
    2. Gently press wonton wrappers into miniature muffin cups coated with cooking spray. Lightly coat wontons with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 5 minutes. Remove wontons from cups and arrange upside down on baking sheets. Lightly coat with cooking spray. Bake 5 minutes longer or until light golden. Turn wontons; fill each with about 1 teaspoon sausage mixture. Bake for 2-3 minutes or until filling is heated through. Yield: 40 wontons.
