Italian food doesn't really exist at least not as a unified category..

It's interesting that the author of the article in question makes the comment, "Oxfam determined that pasta was the world’s #1 favorite food" as a statement that "Italian" food is the world's most popular. Pasta, as you know, was invented in China, so maybe Chinese food IS the most popular after all.
