Don't try having that discussion with anyone from Italy or Sicily.
I spent 3 weeks over there and the food was great. In the North there is little tomato sauce, but it is all very familiar. The main difference is that they serve in courses, primera, segundo, etc. Portions are small. There are few fat Italians. Walking is part of their culture. I saw more fat people on the plane ride home (full of Americans) than in 3 weeks of traveling around the country.
