I went with the small Black & Decker. Digital controls would be nice but I can live with the analog controls. It takes about 10 minutes to preheat up to 450* and you can use the timer so you don't have to baby sit it. It browned toast evenly other than a very slight burn on the back edge. The 4 quartz tube elements (2 top, 2 bottom) seem to be doing a great job of heating evenly. I wrapped the bottom plate with aluminum foil to take care of spills. It came with a cooking sheet but I will look for foil pans of a similar size rather than covering it with foil also.
