I understand what you are saying, I suppose I should have added if the cost was worth it. The DO does such a good job with economical briquettes for baking, is it worth the money? No doubt it would if one often baked their own bread for instances.
Yup. The cover is handy in cold weather. But if you want to save $ you can always get some aluminum flashing and using clips, encircle the DO to block the wind and concentrate the heat. Cost is less than $5.
One thing I'll caution about the collapsible Volcano. Though sturdy, DOs with a heavy load will strain it after repeated usages. Again, common sense rules.
