I've bought a couple of the cheap, ceramic pans (white inside) and they have worked great for the last year.  I can begin to see some scratching though so I think they are like any other coated pan, great until they aren't anymore.  Then you get some new ones.  Other than the reference to the cast iron, nothing is forever anymore.  Remember, it's a disposable world we live in, even if someone tacks the word, "green" onto something.
