When we went camping,(we full time now,) we always ate better. We prepared special dishes using food we normally could not afford in our budget at home, like shrimp, stone crab claws, lobster, etc.
Occasionally, during the weekend, we also had good old grilled hamburgers.
I have to agree with Dog, we eat better mainly because we are taking advantage of the local foods available, and mostly at lower prices than at home. That and just the availability alone, fresh cheese and smoked fish in WI, lobster in ME, shrimp & seafood on the Gulf coast, etc. Even the restaurants with various local cuisine offer many tempting dishes that need trying. Besides that, there's always the trusty dutch oven.
