Who here eats better while RV'ing than at home?

We love making our best food while RV'ing. From our best recipes to steak and lobster. Gourmet breakfasts to start the day. For dinners we supplement with some of our best wines. We dine far better on the road than we do at home. No burgers and hotdogs for us except perhaps for lunch when I toss some bratwurst on the grill.

Are we in the minority on this or do many others love to make their best meals on the road?

  • We eat exactly the same...of course our home is on wheels.

But in terms of your question, I think the issue is you are on vacation. Most people splurge on vacation and with camping you have the time to plan and produce a good meal.
  • For some reason, the BBQ grill has the ability to cook a lot of good food - compared to the stove at home.
  • Eat better or eat whats worse for you but tastes good?

We tend to cheat on what we are supposed to eat to stay healthy while camping.
  • When we went camping,(we full time now,) we always ate better. We prepared special dishes using food we normally could not afford in our budget at home, like shrimp, stone crab claws, lobster, etc.

Occasionally, during the weekend, we also had good old grilled hamburgers.
  • We eat better than home. For camping,I plan more carefully than I do at home.We tend to eat heartier portions while camping, except for in extreme heat.

Usually when camping, we are exploring an area - physically active for a portion or an entire day. Hiking and kayaking require more fuel than needed for an average day at home.
  • You are not alone. My wife always fixes her signature dishes when we go camping. We often watch other campers grilling their hot dogs while we are dining on lobster, chicken cordon bleu, bananas foster, or other haute cuisine that my wife loves to make.

  • We don't do any different while camping than we do at home. Did not know I was supposed to. :h
