Who knew?
I ran across an article clicky and I wondered how many cast iron owners knew these amazing facts, so I am asking how many of you guys knew what the numbers on your cast iron, mean?

THANK YOU! I inherited a cast iron skillet from my Mom, who inherited it from her Mom. Grandma died when I was 3 and I'm pushing 70 now. But I never knew what the "8" on the handle meant. It didn't match either the interior or exterior dimension. It never dawned on me that it was the size of the hole in her cast iron stove.
I also inherited two of Grandma's ledger books. One with recipes and another where she recorded her "butter and egg" sales. A journey back in time.
