"Exploding" pressure cookers are an old wives tale unless used by a terrorist. There is no way they will explode. The only danger is if you cool it under water,don't remove the pressure/weight, then open the lid. The pressure will build in the short time from cool to open the lid if the pressure valve/weight isn't removed. Wife has been there, done that.. It's a mess...I over cook 5# of chicken or 1/2 turkey in the cooker. When done I've got some super broth for soup and can mash the bones with my hands for the dogs "garnish" on their food. NEVER OPEN THE LID UNLESS THE PRESSURE/WEIGHT IS REMOVED. !!!
