Why would anyone want a pressure cooker?

I inherited a 40 plus year old Presto from my mother. I was able to replace the handles, gaskets, weight and pressure relief valve with grommet quite easily and cheaply. Presto still makes all the parts. I probably could have purchased a new unit for only a few dollars more, but there's quite a bit of nostalgia involved when it comes to Mom's old pressure cooker.
