They smoke just fine. I have been in competition bbq for years and I guarantee you they lay down decent smoke. Bigger meats I use lump and chunk but for ribs or chicken in competition, all day long. They are great to bump or finish as well. As for an RV person, they are fantastic. There is a 10% moisture content to the pellet, this allows for juicier finished product. Buy a stick burner if you want to stay up all night feeding it, buy a pellet pooper if you want to get rest and enjoy your day. MAK's are used out west quite a bit in comps, as are some of the Yoders. Any small pellet grill will serve you well.
