- magnusfideExplorer IIImpressive indeed. Please be sure to mention the quick and detailed response when rating your park experience. That kind of excellent service needs to be brought to the fore.

Wow, that's a great question, and a very specific one at that. I have had great response from NPS employees when using the "Contact Us" links on the NPS web site. The reason I'm suggesting this is that you'll get an answer right form the park management itself.

Great idea and here is the response I received:YELL Visitor Services, NPS wrote:
Dean,
You can run your crock pot in your trailer while out touring the park. We don't necessarily hear that the Fishing Bridge RV Park has problems with bears trying to break into trailers and RVs. However because of the bear density in the general area there is the hard-sided requirement.
I would guess that if there has been a bear paying a regular visit to the RV Park then you will be advised of it when you check it. So if you hear of a problem around there at the time maybe reconsider. But I wouldn't worry about it unless you hear of some specific issue going on there at the time.
Enjoy touring the park, and your yummy dinner upon return.
I am impressed that I received an answer within 24 hours and personalized at that. It is very appreciated. Thanks everyone.
Dean - DeanRIowaExplorerAn email has been sent and I will let everyone know the response I receive.
thanks,
Dean - mrgreetisExplorerIf you contact the park, please let us know what they say.

Double ditto. - PFittExplorerInside is no problem we found out the hard way add more water or liquid or start out with frozen, water evaporated much quicker at higher elevations. We did crock pot meals or precooked meats and froze them to reheat after we got back at night. Take lunch and snacks and lots of water with you, Have a Great Trip!!
- NCWriterExplorerAsk the nice people that work in the FB office about any recent concerns. It is for sure the bear part of the park, and as you know that's why soft-sided campers can't stay there. But campers were allowed to cook on their own charcoal grill at the site outside when we were there in 2013. A crockpot inside seems fine.
- horizon36ExplorerWe camp host at Grant. I am assuming you are staying in the full hook up CG there and won't be running a generator all day. If that's the case and your trailer is hard sided, you won't have any animal issues. There will be enough human activity in the CG that bears won't want to go near near it on purpose.
You should be fine. - Campfire_TimeExplorerWow, that's a great question, and a very specific one at that.
