Awesome camping gear

I came across this Clam screen tent while searching online for a wind shelter. What really got my attention was the setup time being so quick.

Has anyone else purchased something like this for camping? My wife and I were at the sporting goods store this evening and picked this up. I've been looking at it for a week or so and we finally decided to get it. Just like in the video too - got it set up in a minute. I figured I would let you all know it about it you haven't already. As you can probably tell I'm pretty excited about this little gadget. I can't wait to get out and use it now.

Clam 1660 Mag Screen Tent
  • I'm trying to find out the carrying, collapsed or storage size to see if I can tote it in our B.
  • Is it really 6 or 7 ft. long? After seeing your original post on the clam and looking at the video, I wanted one real bad! At that length I wont have a place to carry it within reason, dagnabbitt anyway.
  • It's listed on Amazon at 34lbs which I'm sure it is after carrying it around. All packed up it is longer than I expected - after it's in the carrying bag it measures 6-7 feet. It's still portable. What really got me is the incredibly quick setup and break down.

It's expensive for what it is but at the same time there are NO loose pieces and you can't really put a price on not wanting to douse it with gasoline and flick a match out of frustration! :)
  • I picked it up here in town. I paid $299 which is obviously more than the Amazon price but I knew that If I didn't buy it on the impulse that I probably wouldn't buy it at all. I'm glad I did though. I took it home and my son and I took it out of the box and had it setup in less than a few minutes. It helped that I watched the video - It was really the quickest setup I've ever done. After I got it back in the bag we took our old (think 1980s Coleman screen tent) and put in the pile of things to be donated to the Salvation Army.
  • How much does it weigh? How much did it cost? I think I want one of these!
  • Looks nice, like that they also offer a wind protector for those cool spring and fall nights.
