:h Ohio and especially Michigan are nowhere near the east coast, and even though they're closer, Pennsylvania and West Virginia don't touch the ocean. :?
Anyhow, there are many, many options in the states you list. I'm somewhat partial to parts of upstate New York; Letchworth and Watkins Glen state parks for example, could make a fabulous week's vacation. I might also include a stop at Knoebels (in Elysburg, Pennsylvania).
Philly has plenty to see and do for several weeks. About a month ago I spent a wonderful week staying at Greenbelt NP (in Greenbelt, MD) and touring Washington, DC.
The Henry Ford (near Detroit) is worth at least two or three days.
