This might be a little too old for your children, but we have a treasure map and we look for treasure. I have found that if it is treasure, you can interpret a map any way you want to and children will accept that. also, stick horses and cowboy hats are a good thing, the kids can look for rustlers. The sand box is a great idea. I have the fancy sand that sticks together and it feels nice on your hands. Kids love it. Love the plastic table cloth idea. And, if you have a pad to park next to, some chalk will keep them busy a very long time.
