Looking for Rottie friendly campground near San Antonio TX

My son will be graduating basic training from Lackland Airforce base in San Antonio TX in November 2014 and I am trying find a campground for us to park our motor home in for the Graduation. I am having a bit of difficulty finding one that will allow my 8yr old Rottweiler. I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a place that will allow my fur child. I also have a Miniature Pincher I can find places that will allow pets but it seems like everyone has a breed restriction. I am open to suggestions if anyone has any. My rottie is a big ol teddy bear. I wish people judged the dog not the breed.

  • Thanks Everyone. I think I found one called Admiralty RV park. They have breed Restrictions for pit bulls and American Bull dogs but not Rotties.
And they are only 9 miles from base. :)
  • Texas State parks don't have breed restrictions -- a close one is Guadalupe State Park. But no full hook ups -- just W/E.

Also try Stone Creek RV in Schertz Texas. A PA park, FHUs-- I've stayed there a few times. They ARE dog-friendly but I don't know if they ban certain breeds. They have 2 fenced in dog yards with utility/exercise equipment.

Incorrect. I have been living in Texas since 1967, at one point or another have lived in each of the major cities, no breeds are illegal within city limits. Private properties such as apartments, some parks, then it is all over the board.
  • We spent a week at a city park in Castroville, TX two years ago when our grandson graduated basic. I am sure you can find the info on their website.
  • You might want to e-mail these folks. We spent two consecutive winters there a few years ago, and they were dog friendly.

    Nice park.
  • Search the outlying towns of Castorville and Boerne. These two areas
Are closest to Lackland but not in SA limits.
Then try Bulverde and Spring Branch. Further out but still close
    Enough. Good luck
  • I have friend's with the same problem. Most parks are governed by there insurance. The insurance companies have lumped a lot of breads into the vicious animal club. Good luck.
