I might suggest you try Champlain Adult Campground located on one of the Lake Champlain Islands. The Islands are all connected via bridges and causeways, or you can take the Ferry from the New York side of the Lake (Plattsburgh ) to Grand Isle, Vermont. The campground is about one mile north of the Ferry Landing....fun ride!
Don't be fooled by the name....they do accept family groups. Almost all sites are full hook-ups. This area so beautiful. Fantastic views from the Islands of both Vermont's Green Mountains and New York's Adirondack Mountains....great fall colors.
This Island group also has several other commercial campgrounds with hook ups and one Vermont State Park with camping also on Grand Isle...NO-HOOK-UPS.
Check your Campground Directories for details. Islands include: South Hero, Grand Isle, North Hero, Ilse La Motte, South Alberg,, Alberg (next stop Canada)... and look under St. Albans for additional listings.
Champlain Adult Campground does have a website (phone: 802-372-5938). They are right on the lake with 1,600 feet of lakefront. They may close for the season sometime in late October. Gets mighty cold that close to the Canadian boarder!
This is a great area for cycling.
Happy Camping!!!
