- Kelly_CampbellExplorerGoing to Niagara on the Canadian side? I’d suggest going via Lake Erie, Ohio, Pennsylvania. You might as well enjoy the sights there. It’s not going to eat too much into whatever planned time you have for Niagara.
- UppercrustExplorerWe were there last summer. I found the Erie Canal boat tour boring & not worth it along with the Lockport caves. We stayed at the Lewiston Koa. Journey under the falls Canadian side was a let down, but the cave of the winds was worth it. Enjoy your stay!
- Matt_ColieExplorer IILucky,
Niagara Falls is an amazing sight, and will fascinate you for about fifteen minutes. There is a reason for it being a honeymoon destination, there was not much to distract the couple.
Are there other things that interest you? It really is only a two day haul from Chicago to Niagara and there is a world of stuff to see and do along the way. But knowing what you like would help.
Matt - wkswensonExplorerOne possible campground option if you don't mind a small ride to the falls and a quite campground - Four Mile Creek State Park in Youngstown, NY - Great state park with huge sites. Electric only, but they do have water fill stations through-out the park and multiple dump stations.
One advantage is you use your CG Park pass to park free at all the other State Park areas around Niagara. - Dick_BExplorerDo a lot of searching on this Forum for Niagara for activities, campgrounds, restaurants, etc.
A couple of years ago we biked to the Falls, spent about an hour there, and biked back. It's one of those places that you visit, take a few photos, and tell everyone that you did it.
If you have time drive to Lockport and take a boat tour of the Erie Canal; at least as interesting as the Falls.
