We have a site limit of 6 persons per site. It is a hard and fast rule. It is in place for the comfort of all the other guests in the park. Your kids might be great, well behaved, quiet, polite, and every other complimentary word there is, but not every child and family is a good as yours.
It is actually all about managing the total number of people in the park. As the number of people in a site increases, the usage of facilities increases geometrically. If there are one or two people in a rig, they seldom use any facilities such as rest rooms showers etc. 6 people in a rig almost assures they will. Have more and it is almost impossible to use the RV's facilities exclusively, it is just logistically impossible. That issue is compounded when there are a couple of large groups, they all descend upon the restrooms when they wake up and when they return at night rendering the entire facility unavailable for long periods of time for all the other guests in the park. Two or three large groups in a park of 100 sites can easily make the restrooms unavailable for the other 97 or 98 guests when they need them the most since they do not use them at staggered times like all the other guests do.
A large number of people in the site also assures that the park doesn't quiet down early. People have to stay outside since there is no room inside for 6 people. Generally there is a large age range and the young and old are in bed early and everyone else has to be outside so they can sleep.
It gets even worse when it rains. 7+ people in a rig is claustrophobic. They eventually have to go somewhere and generally it is wandering around the store, office, restrooms and laundry. Not buying anything or using the laundry, just wandering.
We do not allow tents or sleeping in cars, therefore we wouldn't rent a second site to overcome that limit of 6 per site. Since we turn those large groups away, instead of charging fees you cannot say it is a money grab. Like many of our policies, the site limit does not work for everyone. But we have found it works well for us and the other guests on site.
