Simi Valley

Hi folks...Leaving Sadona tomorrow and heading to visit Reagan Library......looking for a campground in the Simi Valley area for a couple days....doesn't have to be real close....I checked on rv.net reviews and the three listed (pretty close) but no tv or cell service. We definitely need cell service.......leaving there for a nearby beach campground ..........any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Check out Venturaparks.org, it is the website for all the county parks. There are two parks near the RR library Oak Park Campground and Tapo Canyon Park. I have never stayed in the parks, so I don't know anything about them. I just know they are close to the RR Library.
  • Cant be quoted on this but Tapo Canyon Park in Simi might be an option. I have never stayed there although they do have some hook up spots and I believe a local RV Club has used it as a base camp Rally spot. Give it a look see.....it would be fairly easy access to the Library.
  • There is nothing I know of in Simi. There are two in the valley, both stuffed in old neighborhoods. From Simi, you can go either to Ventura Beach Resort (I think that's right), or Travel Village in Valencia. Ventura is next to the freeway and noisy, but Travel Village is pretty quiet. The 126 runs along side, but considerably further than Ventura.

Distance wise is a toss up depending on when you're on the loose and in traffic
  • Used to live in Simi. That was before the RR Museum was built. Been there twice now. Not to be missed. Don't know about CG's, but cel service should be just fine.

Lotsa beaches nearby, but beach CG's have reservations months in advance. Good luck on that.
