We camp with a Class A MH, no tent but the mosquitoes could care less what equipment you have. They kill my wife! I am looking for something that does not send out a large amount of smoke or repellant, like a fogger. I read Thermacell was good, has a light with batteries and a blue pad with chemicals that repels mosquitoes. Is there anything else. I did not like the quality of the Thermacell lantern, looked cheap and plastic. My wife can't apply anything on her skin. I need something I can hang or place on a table, with or without a light. Whatever will keep the mosquitoes away! Help!!!

It's probably not what your want to hear but the only effective things I have found is Deet and foggers.For the ones that get inside of the MH, get one o these. They also work outside if there aren't a lot of mosquitoes. Bill

For inside the MH, get a small box fan. Attach window screen to the "intake" side, and turn it on. The suction will trap the skeeters against the screen. If you're a skeeter lover, take the fan outside to turn it off. Otherwise, a quick shot of insecticide will take care of the trapped skeeters. Then just brush them into the trash.

There was a study recently showing that lemon eucalyptus-based products are as effective as DEET. In my own experience, they seem to be MORE effective.But mainly. camp away from standing water :).

Thermacell works but not in wind or fan. They also make a battery powered personal unit that hangs on your belt or pocket. Off Smooth and Dry is a good product. Not oily or too smelly.

Can't thank you enough. Placed our order as we are headed to the UP of Michigan in Sept. If we get eaten alive by bugs, I will hunt you down.

thermascell. get the personal butane powered ones and hang it on a belt loop. only works in the calm though if there is wind you are usually ok anyways

Reading these it occurs to me that the reason I have no trouble with mosquitoes is because I always sit outside with a fan on.Thank you
I hate hot weather and the fan must be working for the mosquitoes.

Thermacell. If it is breezy put it upwind. And I have never seen a battery powered one. They run on butane cartridges.

We have had great luck with the thermacell and have been using the same one for five years now. The lantern thermacell is great to cover a larger area (under our awning for example) and if the light is right, one can see the bugs hovering just outside of its radius. If ours broke, I would buy a new one in a heartbeat.

Fans are the best for when you are sitting just outside the RV.
Thermacell (the personal one) works well. You can place it under your chair or wear it on your belt. Doesn't work well when there is wind.

For those that don't mind putting a repellant on their skin and/or clothes, Deet actualy DOES work very well (contrary to what some others here say.) But it is extremely hard on plastic and can be oily on your skin. I used to do forest inventory in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and my mechanical pencil was pretty much mush by the end of the day, but we used the US Military stuff that was pure Deet. I've found that the dry-spray Cutters or Off with at least 25% deet works pretty good too.
