How old are your kids? Colorado is a great place during the summer. Rocky Mountains NP to the Denver Mint to Telluride's gandeur to Pike's Peak and Garden of the Gods...Boondock in Dumas on 1st night and be in CO after lunch. Beats the Texas heat of summer.
