Advice needed-Western US summer trip
Hello all,
We are planning our first big RV road trip and I need some help. We will be leaving from Central Florida in June, and have about 28-30 days total. We have traveled quite a bit in the past by car, but never pulled a trailer more than just around Florida. There are four of us, including 8 and 11 year old boys, plus a small dog. Our rig is a 2003 Excursion 7.3 PSD pulling a 2017 Keystone Sprinter, 39 feet long and approx. 9000 lbs.
My wish list of places to visit include Austin Tx, Albuquerque NM, Grand Canyon, Moab UT and Zion UT. A coworker also suggested I visit Sedona AZ. But the more I look at it, the more I begin to wonder if I may have tried to do too much. BTW my truck runs fantastic, but does have 315k on the odo. I worry about mechanical issues (I'm planning to add airbags to the rear of the truck and a chip for more power). I also worry about the mountain grades out west.
So, should I cut a few places off the list? I have been told by a few that the Grand Canyon is really only good for a few hours unless I am doing a long hike or rafting trip (which I won't be doing because of the kids). Where else should I visit, and any particular routing advice to make my life easier, especially in and out of Utah??
Thanks in advance!
