10 Most Dangerous Breeds of Dogs

Yesterday there was a post about the 'discrimination' against certain breeds of dogs at Campgrounds.

Original Post

Today, on Yahoo, I saw this article about The 10 Most Dangerous Breeds of Dogs.

Apparently Campgrounds have a good reason for excluding certain breeds from their property.

I know it's only a small percentage of dogs that actually attack people but, I guess it's not worth the CG taking the chance. Probably their insurance carrier won't cover them if they allow certain breeds.

Pan Dulce and black. Aw c'mon, it's kinda funny!
  • There are glaring flaws in these breed statistics, they do not take into account the population of each breed. In many human statistics the data are equated on a per capita basis. This is not done with breed statistics because breed populations are not determined. Additionally, there is no good way to deal with mixed breed dogs.

I'll bet you'll find the bite and fatality statistics indicate that the most dangerous breed of dog is "mixed breed" since it is the most populous "breed" of dog. Those compiling the data often add bite data of mixed breeds dogs to the breed they most resemble.
  • Some ins co cold-called me to sell house insurance. they were quick to ask first if I had a dog, and then what breed. When I told 'em I had a silent but deadly Alaskan Malamute, dude said he could not offer me insurance.

My boy used to be the 4th most deadly, but sadly has slipped to number 6... bummer!
