Questionable Breeding

I love to play "guess the breed(s)". Mostly the owners enjoy chatting about their dogs and their possible heritages. Occasionally someone gets miffed. In that case, I apologize for offending them and move on.

FWIW, Millie looks like a beagle/terrier mix to me. Whatever mix she is, she's adorable.

Sometimes you just want to know.

It's no different than any of us going onto Ancestry.com and trying to figure out what combination of "breeds" we are.

And playing "guess the breeds" is fun.

Nothing wrong with that, IMO.

Does one really NEED to know the breeds of an adopted dog? Will it change how you feel about the dog? It might help you with potential breed related diseases. You don't need it for breed related behaviors, you'll see them without a test.

If you still really want to know and don't mind spending the money then get the test; you'll be supporting the economy.

Yup, save your money on that test. Mark went in-dept on these DNA testing. This is when the NDSDF did a DNA test on Calvin back in 2009.

BTW, Millie's cute as heck! Quiet, Calm, Relaxed, Lots of Love, who cares what breed she is, she's perfect!

But all you have to do is take your new pup to a park with a lot of dog walkers and you will find dozens of "experts" define her genealogy for you, at no charge! :W

As a side note, a lot of people move to Calif and then find their lifestyle cramped by the dog they brought with them. Sooo, I've noticed a fair number of people who got a beautiful example of some rare breed at the animal shelter. Usually, the staff there had told them it was a mutt but research (and tips from other dog walkers) revealed the truth. :B

I don't see anything to indicate cattle dog or auusie. The dog in the photo is overweight, that is contributing the the "square" look of those breeds.

Beagle, possibly. Probably some sort of medium-sized terrier in the mix, too.
