Every once in a while, the person has no concept of actually picking up after their pet!

There was a couple at a campground we were at not too long ago that never picked up after their pooch. Finally, while we were both out with our "kids", I walked over with one of our doggie bags, and picked up THEIR mess. She asked me where I got the bags! After telling her they could be found at Wal-Mart or any of the dollar stores, as well as most grocery stores, she smiled and walked away. Never did, tho, see her pick up her dog's mess. Some people just don't care. :-(

LOL!! Yeah - not only is posting here "preaching to the choir" - but it might be turning us into a posse of "Blue-Bag Vigilantes" ?? ;-) Because I suspect that most here feel the way I do: angry that a few bad apples might ruin it for the rest of us to bring our pets camping.

We spent 11 days at a gorgeous KOA near Orlando - and they had several poo-bag stations with waste cans at strategic locations throughout the park. IMO, the park was remarkably "clean", partly because they made it so easy to pick up after ones' dogs?

We had a situation in our current park of a woman who wasn't picking up after her 2 dogs. When one of the campers politely asked her to pick up that same as the rest of us, she stated " don't you have anything better to do than monitor what I do and don't do. We had decided if she didn't start picking up she was going to find her little dogs presents on her steps one morning. Surprise - they pulled out of the park early and didn't even request a refund for days already paid for. We were all glad to see them go as there are approx 16 dogs here and every owner picks up after their dogs routinely - every time.

I think that there are better ways to affect change, especially when something specific has happened in a specific place, and one is still in that place surrounded by the specific culprits who did the offending action (or inaction), when there are more productive ways to complain about the offense.

This is passive aggressive preaching, and in many cases, preaching to the choir. None of us likes being told to do something that we already do, that we loathe when other people don't do this, which gives pet owners a bad name. Like I said, I could go to the Class A section and lecture the folks there about cleaning up their sites before they leave, or perhaps I could go over the the toy hauler section and mention that it would be thoughtful not to have their music blaring, just because the last time I camped somewhere, someone did that to me. Or maybe I could go to the Roads and Routes section and suggest that people be more thoughtful when they drive, to use their turn signals, and maybe stick to the right lane when they are going slower than everyone else.

What I mean is that it might make the OP feel better to post this reminder to nameless faceless people, but it makes us nameless faceless people feel as though we are being accused, and feel bad for something that we didn't have anything to do with, and it isn't productive, really, in the least.

I agree that most here are pretty anal (pun intended) about cleaning poo and that posting here probably won't change too much, BUT

I don't take it personally and it never hurts to remind us how much this stuff upsets some people.

IMO, OP's post was cordial and to the point without the usual rant. Thanks for the reminder.

This original post would be like me going into the other sub forums and reminding people to clean up their campsites before they leave, or to not transport firewood, or not to put bottles in the fire pits, or not to throw garbage in an outhouse. In other words, it's pretty insulting.
