With the advent of "spot on" flea control products (like Frontline, Advantage, etc) the value of shampoos and dips has diminished. The value is usually confined to the first immediate treatment or in the case where the spot on is not appropriate or recommended.
Adam's products have historically been very good and effective (at least in our area).
The major problem with any flea control program that utilizes a flea shampoo (or any other type of shampoo) is that the efficacy disappears when you rinse the soap off. You may get a day or two at most but then the fleas return.
The IGR in the shampoo has the same residual action as the shampoo, so you really only get the fleas/eggs/larva that may be on the pet when the shampoo is done.
I live and practiced in an area where there was a finite flea season (winters really take care of 90 percent of the flea issues) so regional variations may exist. We rarely need any flea control products other that spot on. The only time flea bombs are used is when there is an overwhelming flea population within the house and they are biting the humans.
Most times, spot on treatments on all the animals coupled with meticulous vacuuming, +/- a flea area treatment spray in appropriate areas within the house solved the problems.
