Had a great time camping in the Gifford Pichott NF Mt. Adams area.

We just got back from a great week in the forest. Hardly anybody around in usually crowded campgrounds. We stayed at Walupt Lake, Then Adams Fork campgrounds. Terrible fishing, everything else wonderful. Truck ran great, no overheating, new radiator is supposed to get here in 12 days. The blue wire switch modification to the fan makes a huge difference to the cooling ability on the engine. Enjoy the video.

  • Thanks for the tour.

I do need to ask regarding your contention that camping is free in the off-season. I've been in plenty of NF campgrounds in the off-season, and have always put my fee in the box. When short on cash, we've used a check; always cashed. Is this particular NF different in this regard?

  • for a minuet I thought you were camping up by me.  that looks like most of the campgrounds up here.  I am actualy getting the camper out this weekend and heading up to Banff, before it gets to cold there, then we will hit my weekends off until November Ish, with more local places.

Anybody able to get up into the forest, it's a perfect time to go with the free camping and fall colors breaking out.

Hiked in that area a few times. I kept thinking a lake I took family too is in that region. I think farther south towards MT Adams on the north side. Takhlakh lake. Found it by accident one year driving around down that way. I still remember pushing my daughters out in my canoe with a paddle in ea of their hands. Ages 4 and 7 or there about. They screamed, they yelled, slowly they figure out how to go in circles the correct way, even straight forward.....Some thought I was mean when I was taking pictures, directing from shore, as they figure out what to do.....They don't let me live that down some 30 years later.
