Adam's products have historically been very good and effective (at least in our area).
Historically Adams used formaldehyde in its products. I used to use the spray on until I read the ingredients and saw the formaldehyde.
I agree about the usefulness of the topical solutions. Each house I have lived at, I have done the same routine at move in and have never had issues with fleas:
1. Zodiac yard & kennel spray on all outdoor surfaces (grass, cement, wood); Advantage on pets; Zodiac household spray inside house on all flooring.
2. 2-weeks later, repeat the Zodiac yard & kennel and Zodiac household.
3. Advantage on the dogs only as needed and on any new pet that is brought into the home.
The cats didn't need any more treatment because they are indoor only. The only way they'll get fleas is if the dogs bring them in. The yard will only get fleas if another animal brings them in (once, the neighbor moved out and the fleas jumped into my yard - so I did 1-3 above and no more fleas).
Shampooing and dipping has never been that effective. The above system allows you to skip treatment on a particular pet (if you have more than one) that cannot handle the topical - because the fleas don't live on the pet, they'll get zapped when they jump on a second pet who was treated.
