another dog food question

We've switched Duncan to a new all chicken dry food called Nutri Source. He loves it but it makes him burp more than Iams ever did. No "vapors" but burps often. Should we be concerned? He does eat quick.

He gets 1/3 cup 3 times a day.
  • They make dog dishes that will slow down a "gulpy" eater. We had a horse that would gulp grain - a few large round rocks in the grain bucket put an end to that ;-)
  • We switched him over a couple of weeks. It's been at least 2 months. He doesn't seem to be in any distress or have bloat, gas, runny/loose stools. He just burps.

Thank you for the link, it made me feel like we made a good decision about quality.

As far as his size, he weighs 25 lbs. Very large for a Cavalier, but not at all over weight as his stature is large. He gets one cup per day to ensure that he stays svelte.
  • How did you switch him over...all at once or gradually with a little of the new and some of the old mixed together over about a week's time?

Switching dog foods abruptly without a break-in period can cause indigestion...burping sounds like indigestion.
  • This site will tell you probably more than you need to know about your dog's food:

From what I read, it's a bit high in protein, but other than that looks pretty good. Pay attention to the part about the yeast content....could explain the burping.
