There is a shortage in mfg of this medication, so there is no availability generic, brand name or any other. There are only two companies making it and only one has projected a release date for a batch.
I'd check with your ophthalmologist and see if one of the other carbonic anhydrase inhibitors might be worth a try in a pinch (if you can't get the methazolamide), otherwise just bite the bullet because you are going to have to pay for this medication.
