Our dog was switched off from Frontline Plus because --- they are seeing resistance in the fleas and ticks because it has been used for so long. Another words, the fleas and ticks are becoming resistant and it's not working well anymore. Many vets do know this and are now recommending other things for flea protection.
We used Virbac Knockout (I think that was what it was called) in our house once. It was obtained from a vet, but you can order it online. It works great and lasts for about 5 months. Only had to be out of the house for about an hour with our dogs after it was applied. Worked Great!
