Bad Day
After 8 month in hospice care, my mother died this morning just two weeks short of her 98th birthday.
While there is sadness, she has been locked inside a failing body and is now free. It's time to remember the good things and what she gave me and my brothers.
She was a health teacher and was probably mostly responsible for me going into a medical field. She and my dad taught us the love of animals, the joys of camping and the outdoors among many other life lessons.
This picture was taken in 2009 at my nephew's wedding.
To add to the day, we had to let Charmin go today. His arthritic body was failing and he started to develop neurological symptoms, some sort of brain lesion that made walking problematic. He spent all last night trying to pace and disoriented.
I'm wondering if he and my mother were communicating on another plane, in another dimension. I hope they are happy and free together at the bridge.
