Doug, please accept my sincere condolences on your losses.
What I know of you through this forum, is an indication of the kind of person your mother was and what she passed on to her family. You are a kind, caring, and giving person. It's difficult watching our loved ones as they age and body or mind starts failing. Your mother is no longer in any discomfort or pain.
And then to lose Charmin on the same day.... But again, Charmin is whole again. The hardest part of loving these furry critters is when we have to say good-bye.
I am sure your mom and Charmin are together. May your good memories bring you some comfort.
