They do have a definite way of telling us. My Lab Sofie did pretty much the same thing and on her last day I had offered her a grilled T-bone and she turned her head away...saddest thing I ever saw, her eyes said it all.
I have alerted Sofie that a handsome dude named BenBen was arriving and she best snatch him up for some play time and show him around. I know she will do just that.
He gave you so much love and loyalty, that pic of the two of you looking at each other that you posted a while ago, priceless...you can see all the love you two had for each other.
