Yes Deb, that is something to consider.
There could be some holistic methods that will help increase quality and perhaps quantity of life. All dogs are different and individual vets may or may not be "on board" for those approaches, but it is always worth investigating.
I was fortunate to have our traditional vet, a holistic vet AND an oncologist work together when Loppy had oral melanoma. I know it improved his quality of life and gave us a little more than twice as much time as was originally suggested as his survival time frame. I would not hesitate to work with Dr. Heather Owen (holistic vet / acupuncture specialist) again. We are lucky to have her in our area.
