I looked up sand spurs. I stand corrected -- the things I am talking about definitely look like the sand spurs. ANd we had been there in the spring before and never noticed it. ONly during fall trips. From what I Just read this fits with sandspurs too.
They really don't get caught in my dogs' hair... the problem we had was them getting imbedded in between the footpads.
I did find some boots and put them on the boys here this evening. One dog was doing a lot of high stepping and foot slapping.. The other one was not amused and refused to walk. If I can get them to adapt to wearing the boots, it will save a headache later on. I have a few weeks to work on them with the boots.
