Coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever)
Dogs seem to be prone to picking up spores because of their behavior, sniffing the ground. Desert southwest is the prime area, but there have been cases a little beyond the strict geographic area (but not too far out). Not all dogs (or people) exposed to the spores get sick, fortunately.
