Can my dog ride in the back of my pickup truck?

Perhaps we should reverse the situation. Let the human ride in the bed unsecured and let the dog drive! That is obviously not possible but, it surely puts a different and more realistic perspective on the plight of the dog that is subjected to riding in the bed of the pick-up unsecured in any fashion.
