Canine Revolution vs Heartgard and Frontline

Frontline Plus and Sentinel for Heart worms. Never had a problem.

This stuff works great if your dog is allergic to fleas.

We use frontline plus and heartguard. I know some say they still have fleas but we must have tick protection and all the lastest and greatest dont have anything for ticks. Big problem for me and Duke. We live summers in the midwest and ticks are thick.

Except Novartis is no longer making Interceptor, just Sentinel.

Some of the toy dogs were having problems with Revolution. I gave it to my first two Min Pins and they both almost died. Not saying it happens to every dog but after talking with the toy people many suggested staying away from that product. Frontline has had it's problems also, just google FDA Frontline.

I finally settled in on Interceptor heart worm prevention for all the dogs but mostly for the seizure dog. Collies, greyhounds, etc and seizure dogs do well on this one. All the other ones I tried they all got sickly for days after administering, IMHO a sure sign to stop using the product.

I too do not like multiple use drugs but since I was traveling south my vet strongly suggested it because of the high rate of hook worm in the south. Something I definitely did not want the dogs to ever get because it's impossible to get rid of. Interceptor includes hook worm prevention.

We have found that it's not as effective as other products for the flea/tick control. I do have a few patients on it (my brother in law's dogs). You should be able to get it online with a prescription.

Remember fleas lay eggs by the thousands, so treat the dog and the areas it is living in. Bathing the dog with flea shampoo stops any on the dog that may be causing scratching even if you don't see any on the dog.

I don't really care for all-in-one products.

Years ago my very trusted vet's feeling was (and still is, as far as I know) that putting so many chemicals into a dog all at once couldn't be a good thing, and that it was probably better to spread things a week or more apart. That made sense to me, and it's always stuck with me. Plus where we live now our dogs have never needed flea/tick prevention during the winter. So I'd be dosing them with more chemicals than necessary for a good part of the year (plus spending more money than necessary) if we used an all-in-one product.

Frontline Plus has always worked fine for our dogs, but I did just re-order flea/tick stuff and decided to try K9 Advantix. For heartworm and intestinal worm prevention ours get Heartgard Plus.

We would like to use Revolution but are not finding any veterinarians in TX, AZ or CA carrying it. Feline revolution is readily available, but canine is not. Wondering why?
