Cat harness

We love taking our cat Mysti camping, but she has become a flight risk. Are you aware of a harness or collar that works well with cats. We have already tried a couple from the pet stores, but she finds a way to get out.
  • The one we bought for our cat was a harness meant for small dogs and it worked well. We would take him for walks at the campground and have him tied up while we sat out by the campfire. Perhaps it made a difference that our cat was a large cat altho he was not fat.
A collar did not work as his head was too small.
  • Along with the harness.... this might be an added item to their collar. It can locate the animal within 400 ft from you (according to the site). Can be used on any pet with a collar. I'm only advising on this item. I do not have any affiliation with this company.

  • go to kitty holster.com we have used one for 3 yrs she would always escape from the strap type. does not even try to escape from the kitty holster
  • One time this came up someone said they found a harness made in Australia that had three straps that they said their cats could not get out of. I was going to try them for our two cats, but I never did.
  • you might try one of those full body type harness they make for dogs. Get a small one for the cat. You've seen them, I'm sure, they are the one's that are suppose to give your dog "comfort" when they are stressed out. Problem with all our cat harnesses is, the snap is designed to come apart if they get caught, or the cat can get a leg over one of the straps and escape. The wide ones for dogs might work better.

    Something like this: (Pet Smart):

  • I'm looking forward to the suggestion, too. We have the same problem with out cat.
