Sorry about the late response, computer has been out for repair
Enzee, I am sorry to hear of the problem with your little one.
Yes my hands are full and that is what a foster parent takes on along with their own pack. My doggies are fed in three separate areas according to their eating habit. I watch over them doing this two times a day to make sure when they are done eating gates are open so all is common area again.
My little 4.7 lb Chihuahua, whom I have to say came into my heart one year after my collie of ten years went over rainbow bridge. In the middle of the night (many nights) her trachea would close while sleeping, she would get over excited because she was struggling to breath, I gave her benydryl per the vet , lost sleep hoping she would make it through many nights. I feared I would loose her. After visits to the vet for ex rays, bloodwork, whatever to please help her……I trained myself not to be overly doting on her which caused her to become excited. When she had her problems I would pick her up and treat her normally without exciting her, just loving and letting her know I need her love and speak softly to hear, massaging the back of her neck around to the front of her throat gently. Has worked every time she gets excited and when she is sleeping….when playing…oooooh she can romp and have fun, I have the prescription that seems to help her for now.
And emzee, when a doggie isn’t eating or has problems I do not ignore that. I pay more attention and keep my eye on them. I have the others that have that reverse sneeze and yes it could happen as they eat…has happened to me…not a nice sight. I always search for problems that could have caused it…an activity or something happening in the household. I really feel like a mother hen watching over these little ones since they have come to my household.
It is a lot of work….but I love them,, fosters and all.
My foster is so funny, he sounds like a little piggy but he get it under control himself....he has lived with it for 8 years. I always pay attention to anything different or if it lasts to long.
