One of our Boston's has been hurt rough housing with his brothers it appears. He is walking normal but appears to have a neck or shoulder injury. When he moves a certain way with his neck, he lets out a blood curdling yelp. We have an appointment with our vet at 8:00a.m. tomorrow. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I would love for Dr. Doug to chime in if possible. He's just being pretty mellow now and being careful not to move to where it hurts him.

These types of injuries are pretty common. Could be muscle strain, joint or cervical spine (disc). As long as there is "just" pain and no neurological symptoms, rest and an nSAID are usually enough.Anybody who has had a neck problem from whiplash, slipped disc, exercise or sleeping wrong knows how painful these can be.Doug, DVM

What kind of symtons should i watch for till tomorrow morning? I truly appreciate you taking the time from your busy day to reply. I will also keep you posted after the vet visit in the morning.

The main symptoms besides pain are related to neuro function, stumbling or abnormal gait. Your vet will probably do some degree of neuro exam (checking reflexes, etc.)Sometimes these things resolve before you get in for the appointment, hope that happens.

He can jump on the divan with no problem and has no stumbling problems at all. I will find out for sure tomorrow morning.

The DW called me earlier, she was having a piece of left over breakfast pizza for lunch and Peanut was putting on the old charm wanting a bite.:B He is feeling much better.

Okay great news, little Peanut checked out okay. He has a soft tissue injury in his left shoulder. Our vet-good friend put him on anti-inflammatory medication and we check back in next week but he was very confident everything would be good by then. Peanut is feeling much better this afternoon and eating better and socializing again. Thank You all very much for your concern and a Big Thank You to Dr. Doug. Well almost better, he is wanting to get back to camping. :B
