The major factor that scares me is that it appears you don’t have to be symptomatic to spread the virus. This means that containment will be just about impossible.
Mortality is thought to be about 2 % but we don’t know for sure because China has not been open with statistics.
We don’t need to panic, but some simple precautions are in order. I usually try to use the sanitizing wipes on carts at the grocery, but I don’t every time. Now I will. And I’ll regularly use hand sanitizer.
Thank you, Dr Doug - on the news yesterday (CNBC) they mentioned that a dog had contracted the disease?? But I kind of wonder if it's the CoViD-19, since I've heard there's not many places doing the true determination tests? (Just the CDC?)
As an aside: since I had NO hand sanitizer here at our FL condo, I figured I should get some, just in case. Amazon was either sold out (!) - or their 3rd party vendors were price gouging (six 2-oz bottle for $50). I went to my local Walgreens, where it was even on sale; and bought a few bottles. Just a head's up for those who are running low on sanitizer.
Just look at what's happening on CNBC (Wall Street crashing) to see that most people ARE taking the threat of contagion seriously. During flu season, I always ponder where a sick person goes, or what they MUST do; and then really wash my hands after I've been there. Pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations, ATMs. But it sounds like someone can be walking around feeling just peachy - and they are still sharing CoViD-19 germs. I'm not particularly a germaphobe, but that's a scary thought.
On edit: here's a link to the article on the dog who showed a "weak positive"
Sick dog? but even scarier are the following articles about abandoned pets because their owners are quarantined; or something about dogs being thrown to their death due to fears of coronavirus-19?
