The current test for covid-19 is based upon real time PCR; this test looks for DNA from the virus. This test does not determine if the virus is or has caused an infection; an antibody test (like a titer test) would be used to determine an infection caused by the virus. An antibody test for covid-19 has not been released; this type of test would be needed for vaccine development.
