This is getting personal. A long time client (had a super nice westie) couple got corona. The wife died and the husband in on a ventilator. They were about my age and I'd taken care of their dogs for probably 20 years before my retirement.
Our granddaughter works in Christ Advocate hospital in Chicago. She is a pathology tech prepping biopsy samples for the pathologist to read. The have several people in their office/dept (including some of the pathologists) tested postitive. She has no symptoms, but is at home on 14 day quarantine.
For those of you who don't know, we live in NW Indiana, Lake county (pop approx 485,000). We are basically a suburb of Chicago. We have 190+ cases and 6+ deaths in our county. I've gotten emergency texts from both Illinois and Indiana asking all licensed health care personnel if they would sign up for relief positions/staffing during this crisis. Being 72 and having a couple of risk factors beside age, I'm not the kind of individual they want. But when they start calling on veterinarians to help caring for people it should make any doubters wake up.
Stay safe, this is real.
