They inoculated several domestic species with huge doses of virus and found that this virus was only able to grow and reproduce in cats and ferrets. The others were a no go. That doesn't mean that any animal couldn't act as a vehicle for spread, just as inanimate items. They also did not find serious disease in the cats, just that the virus was able to reproduce.
Hey - I'll take any bit of "sunshine" that comes along :-) The number of cases in Florida dropped for 2 days in a row, too. Crossing my fingers the "curve" is trying to flatten.
